Before entering the Santa Rosa Plaza this afternoon, I was approached by two Simon security officers. The following dialogue is true to the best of my recollection. Simon Security: "What's that?" (as he points to a Private Investigator badge hanging around my neck) Curtis John Surpless: "What's that?" (as I point to the badge he wears with his uniform) Simon Security: "You have to tuck that in your shirt. You can't wear that here. This is private property." (he replies as he continues to follow me) Curtis John Surpless: "It's a toy I bought at a shop in San Francisco." (I commented) Simon Security: "This is private property, you can't wear that in there." Curtis John Surpless: "Fine. I'll walk around." Within minutes I was on my way to the Management Office to request a copy of an existing dress code, if there was one. While in the office, I was told that the Security Office would have a copy. So I walked to the Security Office inquiring about obtaining a copy of the Code of Conduct. I was told "The Code of Conduct is posted at every entrance to the plaza". After finding a posted copy, I noticed that it states that a copy of these codes "may be obtained" at the Management Office. Upon returning to the Management Office, I received a copy of the 'Santa Rosa Plaza Code of Conduct' from one of the two Simon security officers that had approached me earlier. After reading it, I've discovered that I had not violated any of the fifteen codes listed by wearing the Private Investigator badge that was purchased at the International Spy Shop in San Francisco.
