URGENT: Nov 9 Hearing to decide between execution or life without parole.
From the Global Women's Strike

URGENT...URGENT...URGENT
On Tuesday November 9, an oral hearing in front of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in Philadelphia will decide whether award-winning journalist and former Black Panther Mumia Abu-Jamal will face execution, despite compelling evidence of his innocence, or be given life without parole. Demonstrations and other events in support of Mumia are being organized across the US and in other countries (see list below). The Global Women's Strike (GWS), Women of Color in the GWS, and Payday men’s network who have worked with Mumia for a new trial will be attending the rally and hearing in Philadelphia, as well as participating in a protest outside the US Embassy in London England. We urge you to show your support.

The only legal options to be considered at the Third Circuit's November 9 hearing are whether Mumia Abu-Jamal is to be executed or get life in prison without parole. Clearly neither of those two options is acceptable.
U.S. Soldier Imprisoned for Releasing Video Of U.S. Military Slaying of Iraqi Civilians: VIDEO & PETITION included
Submitted by copwatch on Thu, 07/15/2010 - 12:20amBradley Manning is the U.S. soldier now in a US military prison in Kuwait who has been arrested and charged with two violations for releasing classified information (the Wikileaks "Collateral Murder" video) and facing 54 years in prison. He is being held in isolation from the outside world - with no contact with his civilian attorneys working to defend him.
If the allegations are true, Bradley Manning is a hero for bringing to light the realities of the crimes being committed in the U.S. occupation.
We call for his immediate release and that his attorneys be allowed to talk to him.

Come see this film at PARC's new location!
"In Prison My Whole Life" is a well done documentary inspired by a man who was born on the day that Mumia Abu-Jamal was arrested. Mumia has been a political prisoner, on death row, for over 27 years, now.
The filmmaker does a great job talking with people about (researching) racial injustice and the Prison Industrial Complex and giving a thorough run down of the frame-up that has had Mumia on death row since 1981.
Mumia is facing execution and we can't let it happen!!

Yesterday there was a huge development in Mumia's case.
According to a posting yesterday on the US Supreme Court's website, the Court has scheduled a conference for this Friday, January 15, to discuss Mumia's case. Specifically, they are looking at the Philadelphia DA's request to have Mumia executed without a new sentencing hearing.
