Redwood Curtain CopWatch, based in the north coast of California, is part of a larger movement of self organized CopWatch groups throughout the US. July 8 RALLY (Eureka) TO SHOW SOLIDARITY With Prisoners Hunger Strike
Submitted by copwatch on Tue, 06/28/2011 - 3:28pmPrisoners in the Security Housing Unit (SHU) at Pelican Bay State Prison (Crescent City, California) will begin an indefinite hunger strike July 1, 2011 to protest the cruel and inhumane conditions of their imprisonment.
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation
has been found guilty of constitutional rights violations by federal courts, and its practice of long-term isolation, particularly at Pelican Bay, has been identified by human rights monitors as constituting a form of psychological torture.
The lives of the prisoners who say they are going to participate in the strike are at great risk.

Pelican Bay SHU Prisoners' Formal Complaint and Final Notice
Todd Ashker, who is in the Pelican Bay Security Housing Unit, has asked us to expose
THESE DOCUMENTS, Complaint and Final Notice, in place of the one circulated at the end of March 2011 (below).
The new material is in the Final Notice. The Complaint was part of

ANOTHER Year of the Corrupt Cops
Submitted by copwatch on Sun, 05/29/2011 - 9:44amThe Year of the Corrupt Cop
The only question is whether CoCo County or San Francisco has dirtier ones. Plus, Brown may become first governor to close state parks.
It's not even half over, but 2011 looks as if it might be the Year of the Corrupt Cop in the Bay Area. The only question right now is whether Contra Costa County or San Francisco has the dirtier police officers. As of late last week, CoCo County had taken the edge with the disclosure that one of its top commanders had allegedly operated a brothel in Pleasant Hill and regularly ripped off prostitutes and other whorehouses.
California Plagued with Racist "Secure Communities Program"
All of California now linked up to immigration enforcement network
By Matt O'Brien Contra Costa Times Posted: 02/25/2011
MARTINEZ -- The federal immigration agency has finally linked all California police agencies to reveal immigrants -- legal or not -- arrested for violating laws and subject to deportation.
The action, to be announced Friday morning in Southern California, enables U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, to tag arrests and travel to all of the state's county jails to pick up immigrants accused of committing crimes.
In essence, local police, willingly or not, have become an arm of the federal immigration agency.
