Redwood Curtain CopWatch, based in the north coast of California, is part of a larger movement of self organized CopWatch groups throughout the US. Our local efforts seek to intervene in the drastic rise of the presence, militarization, and violence of the police, and build support networks based on self-determination, caring, and concrete needs.
Film Screening: Free Ya Hood
Presented as part of the days of action against police brutality…
FRIDAY NIGHT RADICAL FILM SCREENING
OCT 17th 7pm at PARC
PARC is located in Eureka on 2nd Street between "D" and "E" UPSTAIRS in the wooden complex.
Snacks provided
Another Friday film screening about community, dignity, autonomy and resistance. In addition to the inspiring words and experiences of people's struggles for self-determination, the films expose strategies of repression that always increase in response to peoples' power. We invite engaged discussion after each screening, learning from each other as we apply the lessons generated from each of the community struggles featured in the films.
This weeks film honors the work of the FREE YOUR HOOD COALITION:
“An organizing platform for people of color who are doing work against Police Brutality and the Prision/Military Industrial Complex. In short we are tired of seeing our brothers and sisters swallowed up by this system -so they can use our labor and bomb more innocent people. WE AIN'T HAVIN IT!!!!!! FREE YOUR HOOD began in 2004 at the close of a police brutality trial that involved members of Dead Prez and The A-Alikes. There was a tangible sense of frustration with the legal process and a desire to organize for change.”
